“In Paradisum” is the final movement of Requiem in D minor (Op. 48) composed by Gabriel Fauré between 1887-1890. In preparing the music for my wedding, I knew I wanted an incredibly beautiful piece to be played during the bride’s processional. I selected this piece and quickly composed this arrangement a month before the wedding. It is significantly shorter than the original but this was intended, as the walk down the aisle isn’t exactly a marathon.
On a side note, I never told my wife that this piece was taken from a “mass for the dead” (I guess I was taking my vows seriously – “till death do us part!”)
